Me (brightly, then not): Everything's going to be . . . alright.
Me: I mean, there's going to be lots of completely brilliant stuff . . . mixed in with . . . the shit.
Me: The average is going to be . . . ok.
Dane: You really shouldn't quit research to become a motivational speaker.
Me: That didn't make you feel better?

I disagree with Nate...that was way more motivational than the uber-happy cheerleader blowing rainbows and riding a unicorn.
