My dad finished up his stay with us and flew back to WV on Monday, cheerfully threatening to put the babies in his carry-on. It was sad to see him go. We don't know when we'll have time to fly to the east coast for a visit this year. So, after being with the babies for nearly every waking minute of their lives, Dad won't get to see them for months. Hopefully Skype can mitigate the separation somewhat. Why doesn't NASA have a research center in Lewisburg?
My mom arrived a few days before Dad left, and is now caught up in the baby hamster wheel with us. We're keeping our heads above water, (sorry for the mixed metaphor) but every few days things change and we have to readjust. Tristan and Duncan are wonderful, but the fatigue is constant. Sometimes I get rested enough to feel alert and interested in trying to do things, but then the fog creeps back and I catch myself wandering around blankly while 20 precious minutes of rest or cleaning time slip away.
Despite how tired everyone at our house is, we're enjoying the babies being tiny. Whenever we take them out of the house we get lots of looks and questions. Boys or girls? Identical? But most often: How old are they? People are enchanted by how little they are. It makes us appreciate how transient all of this is. Particularly since the boys don't seem to plan on staying tiny for long. They were ~6.5 lbs. at their last pediatricians' appointment, and I'm sure they're over 7 now. There is a mounting collection of outfits that won't snap or zip anymore. Everyone warned us it would go fast, but it's still quite incredible. Tristan in particular has become such a rolly-polly guy almost over night. And both he and Duncan seem to add to their repertoire of wild animal noises every day. Our nursery was so quite when Tristan first came home, and now sometimes it sounds like a zoo. :-)
At any rate, I'm frittering away more sleeping/cleaning/feeding-my-face time. All is well here, and we will try to post more regularly as we settle more and more into a routine. We hope. :-)

Or Pittsburgh? I hear Pittsburgh's pretty nice, easy access to CMU, where they already have a number of projects...
NASA neeeds a center at NRAO Green Bank, WV!!!
The constant exhaustion must be really tough. You can do it! We're pulling for you! I'm amazed you find time to take and post photos - we really enjoy them! The boys are growing so fast...
Kathleen -- it's easier and more fun to take photos than to deal with journal proofs! :-)
