Tristan and Isolde

Duncan and Tristan love day care -- so much so that I'm a bit embarrassed. They're smiley laughing little guys at the house, but they become positively effervescent when we walk through the door at day care. Tristan in particular comes close to popping the ears off his head with huge smiles.

I think there are two reasons that they like day care so well. One, they get to play with a LOT of different toys. This seems to be what Duncan is most excited about. Whirring, buzzing, rattling, rolling bits of plastic that he can chew on. Two, there are other babies to play with. And this is what Tristan is most excited about. The kid is seven months old and he's already a shameless flirt. Here he is trying to get the attention of a girl in his class:

This isn't just a fleeting expression I happened to catch on his face with my phone's camera. This is what he's doing all the time. That little boy loves ingratiating himself with the ladies. All he needs is a pair of Wellingtons and he'll be ready to hit the Drover's Arms in Darrowby with his namesake. We are in trouble.

My question is, where did Tristan get the moves? Certainly not from his pappa's side :-D

Ah, Laura, too true! And he certainly didn't get it from me -- I'm the reason they started making those "Flirt harder I'm a physicist" pins. My best guess is it's from his Uncle Caleb.

One thing I have noticed is that babies are fascinated by other babies.

You're just jealous and bitter because I was already married when you met me, Laura, and thus you've spent years forcing yourself to resist my charm, charisma, and suave nature. ;-)

Oh, and I've got this great bridge in San Francisco I can sell you, cheap!
