We were at the doctor again today for our monthly check up. It was the first time we'd had a chance to talk with our personal doctor since the scare on the weekend. Because our doctor has a lot of experience with twins, he was slightly more concerned than the doctor and nurses we spoke with Sunday. He agrees that there is no immediate danger, but he wants us to proceed as cautiously as possible -- particularly since I'm so thin and not a good candidate for carrying twins to term in the first place. So, in addition to resting as much as possible and drinking insane amounts of water (5 liters yesterday), I'm being put on drugs to relax my uterus and minimize contractions. From now on we're also going in for weekly visits, so that my cervix can be monitored fairly continuously. I'm still allowed to go to work, but I promised to try to work at home more and in the office less. I'm allowed to keep swimming, but not allowed to take "long" walks -- i.e. we'll be driving our car around the corner to the grocery store.
These are all precautions -- so no one should be worried. We're doing everything possible to make sure the babies stay where they ought to be. :-)
