Government run health care

Due to both the ongoing national debate, as well as Hanna's pregnancy giving me the chance to experience health care and health insurance first-hand, the issue of health reform has been on my mind quite a bit of late. I've been collecting references, organizing my thoughts, and having interesting conversations with friends and family about their own experiences and opinions, and I'm hoping to have something detailed to say soon. Until then, however, I found this clip that I wanted to share immediately. I've heard a lot of people express reservations about "government-run health care", and Rep. Weiner does a fine job of pointing out that we already have a system of public health insurance, and it works quite well. It's called Medicare.

Republicans say a government healthcare system is going to be bloated, costly, inefficient, and will have bureaucrats making your health care decisions.

How exactly is this scenario different from what we have now?
