Cribs

For the past four mornings I've been greeted by a scene like this, or worse. Saturday morning Tristan's head was under Duncan's feet. I'm not sure who was having more fun -- Duncan kicking Tristan or Tristan head butting Duncan. In any event, I think the time may be coming when they have to be separated at night. I'd hoped to avoid it for at least a couple more months, but thanks to a horror story we heard at the pediatrician's office, I'm terrified they're going to suffocate each other. Last night I lept up from a dead sleep twice to check the video monitor, only to see them sleeping peacefully side by side. Then this morning I found Tristan burrowing his head into his brother like the Nautilus trying to break through the Antarctic ice pack.

Separating them is going to present some logistical challenges in our tiny apartment. If any one has suggestions for preventing crib gymnastics, please let me know!

Hmmm...
1) empty drawers in dresser.
2) fork over the cash for new crib bunk-beds.
3) Build your own crib bunk-beds from Lincoln logs and dowel rods.
4) Double oven. Convenient and toasty warm.
5) Portable cribs (pack-n-play) so that it can be collapsed when you need the room. We still use ours with Tam at 14mths, whenever we'll be someplace during his nap time.

Does Tam sleep ok in the pack-n-play? Good night time sleep is such a recent development in our house that I haven't had the nerve to try putting one of them in the portable crib overnight . . .

Hanna,
When Maya's crib got recalled, we let her sleep in the pack and play...when she was TWO. So you will get good use of that thing!

Good luck with the sleeping arrangements. Have you thought about getting two video monitors then? We LOVE ours and people have called it the Stalker cam...:-)

We travel a lot to see my relatives in England and Wales and because we have NO room in our place, Calvin has always slept in a pack n play (called a travel cot over here). We're planning on him sleeping in it for a long time. It's perfect.

Yep. Tam sleeps fine in the pack and play. I had it in my office until he was 'bout 6ish months. He would nap there while I was working. We did get the extra batting covers to give a bit more cushion, but he sleeps fine in the thing...as long as he has his music box and blanket.

James slept in a dresser drawer for a while when he was a baby.
