Just a quick update. Both boys are in open cribs with no breathing assistance and are doing very well. They're both able to eat without their tubes 5 times per day. When they get to 8 feedings under their own power, we'll switch to on demand (rather than scheduled) feeding. No one is sure how long that will take, but I was given some of the preliminary hospital discharge information this morning. Meanwhile, all the nurses stop by our corner of the NICU and tell us how exceptionally cute Duncan and Tristan are. They may be saying that about everyone's babies, but it's still nice.
At home, Dane and I have gotten into a pretty reasonable routine -- with considerable help from my dad. Dane puts in a regular work day at home, while Dad and I go to the hospital for the morning or afternoon feedings. In the evening, Dane and I go back to the hospital for a few hours, then we come home and have a late dinner with Dad. Right now, we only have to get up two or three times a night for pumping, so we're getting some sleep while we can. I'm still extremely tired, but I'm more like myself every day. Things like eating dinner at the dining room table, making my own breakfast, and walking out to get the mail are still pleasant novelties after so many weeks of being confined. Unfortunately, I can't go far from the house or the hospital. I'm longing to go for a walk to the little city park near our house, or a little drive down to a nearby redwood grove. Hopefully, bringing the twins to the house won't throw us into a total tailspin and we can have some little adventures like that soon. I really, really need to get outside.

Do I see Babby-sized versions of the famous Jayne hat?
No, those hats we got from the volunteers at the hospital. That said, Hanna has plans for all of the Sizemore to have matching Jayne hats. :-)
I love my geeky friends. They make me smile.
