Tristan is home!

Well, they let us take one of them home.

Here's a picture of Tristan's last day in the NICU, and his first dinner in the apartment:

Duncan is still being held hostage. There's a long convoluted story about this -- involving multiple trips to Babies R Us to exchange and re-exchange car seats, a echo cardiogram, and an unending day in the NICU during which I ate no food and lost my temper. But, long story short, we've been a little nuts, we only got to spring one baby, and it's probably because the back of Duncan's head is pointy. His oxygen saturation drops when he's strapped in his car seat, so he can't be discharged until we get a fancy car bed. The bed had to be ordered on the internet; when it arrives he gets to come home. Here's a picture of poor Duncan failing his third and final car seat test:

And here I am telling him he'd better make up all of this to me by growing up and winning a Golden Horseshoe:

Congrats on getting Tristan home! I'm sure Duncan will follow soon enough. James and I are enjoying following their progress and looking at all the cute baby pictures.

Can you e-mail me your current address?

I had to look up "Golden Horseshoe". It's a neat idea, I wish we had that in PA. I'll tell Stephanie so she can start prepping Sammy. 7 years is enough study time, right?

I don't know how much study time is appropriate -- no one in my family has ever won one, despite much much effort. It's the Smith family curse. Dane has one, however, and claims he didn't study. Maybe he genes can over ride mine?

The Sammybeast likes school and has a mom that loves to read. If he doesn't eat her out of house and home (where DOES he put it all?), he'll have a good start
